Rental Assistance

Saugus Housing Authority also administers 154 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.HUD provides grants to the Authority to subsidize rents for low income families and individuals who rent dwelling units from private landlords.  Under this program qualified applicants are issued vouchers which may be used by the applicant to obtain housing in the private rental market.  The Housing Authority will subsidize the landlord for the difference between the rent requested and the tenant’s share of the rent.  The payment cannot exceed a predetermined payment standard.
